How we work

Assessment to verification, under one contract.

Five stages forming one coordinated process. SigmaPhi can be appointed for the complete sequence, or for individual stages according to project requirements.

Structural assessment

Visual survey, GPR, NDT, coring and lab testing. Output is a diagnostic report with root cause.

Engineering design

Analysis of the as-found structure, calculations and detailed design drawings.

Strengthening execution

CFRP, jacketing, steel, external PT. Method statements and ITPs before mobilisation.

Repair and protection

Reinstatement, corrosion treatment, injection and waterproofing to stop recurrence.

Verification and handover

Pull-off testing, as-built records, load testing where specified, close-out dossier.

Post-tensioned structures

We scan before we cut.

On a post-tensioned slab, coring, cutting or anchoring without accurately identifying the existing tendons and reinforcement can turn a routine modification into a significant structural problem. It is the single most common way these works go wrong.

How we handle it

Before any core, cut-out or anchor is drilled into a PT slab, the tendon layout is mapped by GPR and marked on site against the as-built drawing. Where the drawing is unavailable or the scan is inconclusive, this is recorded and a scan-and-verify hold point is established — rather than proceeding on assumption.
